Our Volunteers

Albertine and her daughter Keva are enrolled together in the UMKC School of Nursing and Health Studies - both say they chose nursing in order to help others. While their extended family is back in their home country, Albertine said that her neighbors have made them feel welcomed here in Kansas City. When Albertine's family first arrived here 7 years ago, they reached out to The Don Bosco Centers for assistance. Because of the kindness her family has been shown, she thinks it is important to give back to the community in any way. She and Keva were pleased to find out they could complete service hours at the Senior Center!

According to Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) guidelines, Don Bosco Senior Center is the largest, most comprehensive provider of senior services in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. Through our Meals on Wheels program, we also ensure that homebound clients receive a hot meal and a wellness check-in from a caring and trained driver every weekday.

Hear from our seniors what the Center means to them:

Food Drive Volunteers

Ann Marie (pictured left) volunteered in June at the Don Bosco’s Harvesters Mobile Food Drive. She said, “I like when the trucks come in, and you can see all the kind of foods they brought. The people who come through the line are so appreciative. It's a really easy way for me to help out. I'm glad to be able to do it." Volunteers like Ann Marie make our Food Drive every month a success!
