Did you know that most of our clients—both seniors and ESL students—live at or below the poverty level?

For years the Don Bosco Centers have conducted the Holiday Friends program to provide some holiday cheer to the people we serve. We focus our program on providing the basic needs that all our clients seem to share: personal hygiene items, warm blankets, paper goods/cleaning supplies, and warm socks, hats, and gloves, to name a few.

Last year alone, donors like you...

  • adopted over 200 seniors and provided wonderful gifts for them and their grandchildren

  • Contributed hygiene items, blankets, toys for children, and more to make up gift bags for over 550 ESL students and their families

There are several ways you can join us in spreading holiday cheer again this year:

  1. Participate in the Holiday Friends Adoption program where you’ll be matched with a Don Bosco senior’s “wish list” and can shop for specific items on that list.

  2. Shop for gifts for seniors from a general list of suggested items.

  3. Shop for gifts for ESL students and their families from a general list of suggested items.

  4. Volunteer as one of “Santa’s Helpers,” assisting with preparations, gift delivery, and special activities held during the month of December.

  5. Provide a financial donation that will go toward purchasing wish list items or gift cards for our clients.

Holiday Friends is a great group project to take on together with family members, friends, faith groups, or colleagues!
