Beer! Buses! (Don) Bosco!

Our First Annual Bosco Brew Bus was a blast.

To start the day, our 40 guests were treated to homemade hors d’oeuvres made by our fearless leader, Executive Director Mo Orpin, accompanied by our signature cocktail: The Bosco Mule. While eating and drinking, our guests had a chance to learn about Don Bosco’s mission and service areas, as well as our recent snow day struggles.

The weather for our brewery tour couldn’t have been better! Our first stop was at our neighbors at Strange Days Brewing Co. where they had the garage doors open to provide a lovely inside-outside experience. From there we traveled across the river to Cinder Block Brewery. Cinder Block’s new patio space was open and we made full use of it playing corn hole and disc golf and just chatting in the sun!

By this point, everyone in the group was fast friends, so the bus ride from Cinder Block to Stockyards Brewing Co. in the West Bottoms was raucous and fun. At Stockyards, we soaked up the mahogany-clad ambiance of their event space while enjoying their wares. It was a cool, refreshing stop after so much time in the sun. From there we ended our tour in the Crossroads at Brewery Emperial where we were back outside soaking up the sun in their beer garden (with sunburns to prove it), as intrepid guests played yard games and even tried to ride a vintage tricycle!

One last bus ride brought us back to the Senior Center, where everyone continued snacking and chatting. Some folks even stayed to watch the running of the Kentucky Derby. It was a great day, but don’t just take our word for it. Here is some feedback from our guests:

“Laid back, fun experience.”

“It was such a positive group and I could tell the organizers put a lot of thought into making it special. I loved that I could do something that I would've been doing for fun anyway and the money went to help people.”

“It was fun! Great people at Don Bosco and we made new friends!”

“I keep telling people that I had one of the best birthdays in a long time. I hope I can come next year again.”

“Looking forward to doing it again next year!!!”
