When Susana Ramos arrived in America as a political refugee from Cuba several years ago, she didn't have a place to turn. That is, until she found The Don Bosco Centers. After discovering the Don Bosco Senior Center, Susana and her husband got connected with meals, friends and a place to belong.
The staff at the Senior Center assisted Susana and her husband in applying for permanent residence. Even after her husband died, Susana never gave up. She learned to call a taxi, make appointments, and became a U.S. citizen in May 2008.
Thanks to Don Bosco, Susana is connected to a community that cares. "I am very proud of her and of her accomplishments," said Cecilia Sierra, Hispanic Outreach Coordinator. "She has a better life thanks to Don Bosco."
