The Don Bosco Senior Center has been making a difference in the lives of seniors since 1974. Ground was broken to construct the current building in 1990 answering the needs of the aging Northeast Kansas City population. With daily activities, transportation, delicious meals, and fun events, area Seniors have found the Center to be a great way to make friends, stay active, and maintain independence. The Center serves adults age 60 and over, and people age 18 and over with disabilities. The Don Bosco Senior Center is the largest, most comprehensive senior center in the Greater Kansas City area.

The variety of programs and activities provided help improve the quality of life of Kansas City's seniors, including:

• Weekday Lunch Program & Meals on Wheels - Last year, a combined 175,000 meals were served at our Center and delivered to those who are deemed homebound by a physician or social worker. Both programs provide hot, nutritious meals. Download this month's menu.
  
  
• Transportation - Transportation is also a core service. The Center transports participants to and from the Center, on regularly scheduled shopping trips, and on Senior Center field trips.
  
  
• Recreational Activities - Throughout the week, a variety of recreational and educational activities are scheduled at the Senior Center, including special events, dances, yoga, billiards, movies, Bingo, Spanish classes and more. Download this month's activity calendar.
  
  
• Student Nurses & Medical - Through partnerships with local medical and nursing schools, the Center offers free blood pressure checks and other medical screenings. In addition, flu shots are available in the fall and a podiatrist provides foot exams regularly.
  
  
• Health Promotion & Education - Throughout the year, the Senior Center promotes healthy living and provides educational programs to help seniors increase and maintain quality of life. In addition, other community agencies are invited to come and share details of their available programs and services.
  
  
• Computer Lab - The Center features a computer lab so seniors can access e-mail and the Internet, and improve their computer skills. Weekly computer classes are provided.
  
  
• Exercise Equipment & Classes - Several pieces of fitness equipment are available for use, and a variety of exercise classes ranging from yoga to Zumba are regularly offered.
