The goal of the Don Bosco Charter High School is to graduate students who might not otherwise succeed in a normal high school setting. This accredited alternative charter high school offers a low student to teacher ratio, allowing teachers to focus on the individual needs of their pupils. The flexible scheduling also helps with students’ needs in earning diplomas while also earning work experience. Counselors are available to help students with individual goal setting for future opportunities, and a partnership with Don Bosco's Youth Development Center also helps facilitate planning and application help for post-secondary educational institutions. The Don Bosco Education Center graduated more than 100 students last year.
The Don Bosco Charter High School offers a variety of courses designed to deliver a quality and versatile education. The academic program at Don Bosco Charter High School is tailored to the "Show-Me Standards" developed by the State of Missouri. These standards were developed to ensure that Missouri high school graduates have the knowledge, skills and competencies essential to lead a productive, fulfilling and successful life; and that enable students to continue their education, enter the workforce and assume civic responsibilities. Visit the Departments webpage for links to each of the high school's academic departments.
Tips for Test Taking
Test taking can be a challenge for some. The key is to know how to best prepare for an exam and prevent careless errors. To be successful at test taking, remember to:
1. Prepare adequately. Review past homework assignments and quizzes. Develop a way to remember key information that works best for you (memorization, study flash cards, etc.). Remember to get adequate sleep and eat the day of your exam to make sure you are alert and ready to do your best!
2. Do your best. When taking your exam, remember to read all instructions thoroughly. One strategy for successful test taking is to answer the easiest questions first, and then go back and work on the more difficult questions. Be sure to review your answers before turning in your exam.
